J S PU College, organized a Meditation Program on 22nd June 2026 to promote mindfulness and mental well-being among students.
The program began with a welcome address by Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, Principal, JS PU College, who emphasized how meditation helps students develop healthy habits and manage stress effectively.
Prof. Dr. Jayarama Shetty S, Chairman and Director, addressed the gathering and highlighted that even a few minutes of daily mindfulness can reduce academic stress, improve focus, and enhance cognitive function and overall well-being.
The session was conducted by Mr. Veeraragavan, Mr. Vinay, and Mrs. Pushpavalli from Heartfulness Meditation Center, Vijaynagar, Bangalore. They addressed common challenges faced by students such as stress, distractions, and social media addiction. Through a Selective Attention Test and interactive discussion, they explained stress management, brain wave patterns, and the benefits of regular meditation practice.
Students were introduced to four types of learners and encouraged to aspire to become “Meditative Students” – focused, calm, and aware. The session concluded with a 2-minute relaxation and 12-minute guided Heartfulness meditation.
The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Beena K, Department of Commerce, and was compered by Mrs. Pooja Bhat, Department of Commerce.
The session proved to be an enriching experience, inspiring students and staff to adopt mindfulness for better focus, improved sleep, reduced exam stress, and enhanced mental and physical health.
